Michael D. Currie is an associate in the Firm’s trial division.
Mr. Currie handles all manner of litigated cases, including business litigation, employment law, insurance defense and coverage, and white collar criminal defense. Representative cases include:
- Obtaining a bench trial ruling in favor of client against former employer for employer’s failure to pay commissions under Iowa’s Wage Payment and Collection Act;
- Obtaining directed verdict at trial against plaintiff alleging personal injuries against client in motor vehicle accident;
- Obtaining summary judgment in multiple cases representing a leasing client;
- Successfully defending employers in wrongful termination; defamation, wage dispute, and employment discrimination cases.
Mr. Currie also has experience advising business clients on financial regulatory matters related to Articles 3 and 4 of the UCC, RESPA, TILA, and the Iowa Consumer Credit Code.
Mr. Currie is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, where he served on the Moot Court Board and was a writer and editor for the Iowa Law Review. Mr. Currie is a member of the Iowa Bar Association, the Polk County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Mr. Currie stays involved in the community as a member of the board of directors for Children’s Cancer Connection.
