Posted on: February 7th, 2022

The Iowa Supreme Court has issued an amended Order In the Matter of Ongoing Provisions for Coronavirus/Covid-19 Impact on Court Services. The amended Order went into effect on January 1, 2022.

Pursuant to the amended Order, face masks are still required when entering court-controlled spaces throughout the state, regardless of the individual’s vaccination status or the particular county’s positivity rate or transmission status. However, judges have the discretion to permit the removal of face masks or to take other measures to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

All civil proceedings are presumed to be held in person. However, courts may direct, and parties may request, that proceedings other than trials be remote. The court also has discretion to conduct remote trials or testimony.
