Rachel was raised in Huxley, Iowa, and attended Ballard High School. She holds an undergraduate degree with a double major in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Northern Iowa. Rachel became interested in pursuing a legal career while attending the University of Northern Iowa. “In my criminology courses I often found myself interested in the legal aspects of the topics being discussed. I explored my interest by pursing an internship at the Black Hawk County Attorney’s Office in Waterloo, Iowa. This was a fantastic experience. I had the opportunity to watch a wide variety of trials conducted by attorneys with different practice styles.” Following her graduation from the University of Northern Iowa, Rachel volunteered at Iowa Legal Aid.

Currently Rachel practices insurance defense in the firm’s litigation division. Rachel was drawn to Grefe & Sidney’s size and practice areas. She really enjoys the people she works with. “Since day one everyone has been friendly and happy to answer any questions that I had.”

In her free time, Rachel can be found at the Des Moines Public Library, running around Gray’s Lake, and walking her dog with her husband.
