Where are you from?

Mount Vernon, Iowa

Where did you go to high school and undergrad?

Mount Vernon High School
University of Iowa for undergrad

Did you go to law school immediately after graduating from undergrad? If not, what did you do during that period?

I went straight from undergrad to law school.

Why did you decide to go to law school and become an attorney?

I started looking into law school the summer before my final year at Iowa and decided to get everything in order to apply. I always had interests across multiple areas in school and really liked that legal studies can be applied to any industry. I ended up meeting with a professor at Iowa to ask her about being an attorney and took an internship in her clinic at Iowa Law School. Working at that internship, I knew that it would be a long process, but this was the career I wanted to pursue.

What attracted you to Grefe & Sidney and what do you like most about the firm?

While I was interviewing, the attorneys made sure I knew that they have an open-door policy and that the firm works as a team. I left the interview feeling like it was a great group of people and a positive environment that I wanted to be a part of.
The attorneys at Grefe & Sidney make a conscious effort to mentor while allowing me to grow into my own practice style as a new attorney.

What do you like most about being an attorney?

My favorite part of being an attorney is how every case is unique and learning about various aspects of client’s lives to help them through the legal process. Even with specialized practice areas, the issues we deal with span such a wide range and include analyzing strictly legal factors as well as considering the emotional and human side of things.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies?

I enjoy cooking, spending time with my dog, Alfie, planning trips, and traveling in my free time.
